A dark tree-covered path, almost no moonlight light, and howling wind, this is never good news! Or how about having to meet an informant at a tavern full of shady characters? Has your LARP character ever experienced a particular fear or heightened sense of precaution in certain situations, or is just your vibrant imagination working on overdrive.
I admit I have found myself several situations, where I was daydreaming of things that might happen that never really did. Like the time where a gang of rogues was approaching, I was alone on the road. It was near dusk, our eyes never met, nor any words exchanged, not even a glance. But yet I felt an intense fear of being attacked or verbal taunting. Just my imagination, you say? Surely that and years of dungeons and dragons running through my veins.
We all have our stories. Different variations surely, but each with a certain degree of fears or phobias that only manifest themselves when placed in certain situations. Some are just figments of our imagination, but this altered reality allows us to recognize those fears and force us to deal with it through our characters. Sure we laugh at certain crazy heroic feats that we do to overcome these phobias, some act as tough guys, and some use their character abilities to overcome it. Some try to ignore these somewhat strange sensations and bound by fantasy realities, but they are only postponing the inevitable.
